Whoa! While Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon MSM8960 dual core CPU, insider claims to bring similar gaming performance as of Xbox 360 to their next development.
Introducing the Snapdragon MSM8960 system-on-chip which is built on a 28nm die, dual-core-based at 1.2GHz. Interestingly, it’s 5x the “performance of the original Snapdragon chip.” It’s not first in the dual-core range. MSM8260 and MSM8660 were sampled to OEMs back in June, that bears to be dual-core with 2 Scorpion cores inside, and an Adreno 205 GPU, on 45nm. These SoC might be available in mobile phones by early 2011. The performance of MSM8960 is comparatively more than above two SoC. There’s 4x GPU performance. A forum post reveals that Qualcomm is all set to develop SoC from 2011 which will bear Adreno 3xx GPU, which is similar to the GPU performance of the current gaming gerneration’s Xbox 360 and PS3.
MSM8960 will be available to OEMs by 2011, and is expected that OEMs would release it on their mobile devices by 2012.
