It seem’s Google Bangladesh suffered from a DNS Hijack today, showing a.. weird hipster page playing a hiphop song, claiming that Google Bangladesh got “OwN3D by TiGER-M@TE.”

Well, we did some research on this – the awesomeness of a tracert command tells us that “www.google.com.bd” works fine connecting to Google, but removing the www. make’s it redirect to a webpage hosted at “turnkeyinternet.net“, that’s based in US. Strange.

So we did a bit more research and it seems to be clear – it was a DNS Hijack, Mr. “TiGER-M@TE” successfully hijacked the DNS records for google.com.bd and redirect it to .. “172.233.68.2″, which when visited says site doesn’t exist but oh well.

For those of you guys thinking Google is too lazy to fix cause you can still see it – Google wasn’t the one to get “OwN3D”, it was… the .bd zone which comes under Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited – which was originally hacked it seems. Google couldn’t do anything to prevent this. If you still see it, changing to an updated DNS (4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2) fixes it up back – which proves our point clearly, that it was a DNS Hijack.

On that note, it seem’s hacking and hijacking site is more than a hobby for TiGER-M@TE, there’s a whole list of sites he have been hacking including one of the major players for ISP’s in Asia and Africa – bd.Airtel.com – which seems to be fine now, since the hack was on 24th December.

Update: And it seem’s that now the hosting site has suspended hacker’s account, just after we wrote this article. How quick.
