YouTube app won’t come pre-loaded in iOS 6

A new beta of iOS 6 has been released for developers on Monday, and to your surprise the OS doesn’t include YouTube app. Official statement from Apple concludes that YouTube license has been ended since recently and that the mighty Google will come out with its own YouTube app through App Store. Or, it could be a growing “rivalry” between the two giants. Earlier this year, Apple had dumped Google Maps from iOS.
“Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.”
– a statement from Apple.
Yes, Google’s making a new YouTube for iOS devices and it’s going to include extra features, and obviously advertising for Google’s monetizing purpose which is what seen here as the “major” change. YouTube app had always been designed by Apple using YouTube’s standards, well not this time.
“It’s a risk to Google’s overall mobile approach and strategy, in that their services are not going to be as easy to find as they used to be. They need to be everywhere that users are.”
– said ThinkEquity analyst Ronald Josey.

I upgraded to iOS 6 on my 3rd-gen iPad. Ugh. It lags, is choppy, and there’s pixelation where there was none before. Even the font, as I’m typing this, is smaller and harder to read. What a mess.
