Dolby showcased its Digital Plus powered Nokia smartphones – FICCI ’12, Mumbai

Today at Dolby Experience Lounge held at FICCI Frames 2012 expo, Dolby demonstrated some Nokia devices that were powered by Dolby Digital Plus. On the demonstration, were Nokia 700, Nokia 701, Nokia 603 and Nokia 808 Pureview. Nokia N8 was the first handset to deliver Digital Plus technology, in fact Nokia was the first company to deal with Dolby for the same (Dolby’s in talks with other OEMs too). Dolby Digital Plus reduces the file size of the audio program and encodes it back with some enhancements that produces an impressive level of surround sound throughout the playback.

Dolby Digital Plus will be included in the next firmware updates for Nokia 700, Nokia 701, Nokia 603 and Nokia N8. Pureview will be shipped with the technology. There’s no confirmation about when exactly the above devices will get the updates but we’ve heard that Nokia will soon release them.
