  • Idea launched 2 affordable Androids, rebrands ZTE Blade and Huawei Ideos X1 in India

    Idea announced two affordable 3G Android phones at press conference today held in Mumbai. These new devices are ZTE Blade (previously branded by Dell as XCD35) and Huawei Ideos X1 (previously branded by MTS as MTAG 3.1). The only good part of the rebranding is: cost cut-off!

    ZTE Blade is decent on its specs – 600Mhz Qualcomm SoC along with Adreno 200 GPU, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 3G upto 7.2Mbps, FM radio, 3.5 inch LCD capacitive touchscreen display (480 x 800 resolution), 3.2MP rear cam, etc. Huawei Ideos X1 is cheaper but is one of those sluggish Androids in market because of outdated specs, especially considering SoC and RAM. Specs – 528Mhz Qualcomm SoC (based on ARM 11), 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen (240×320 QVGA resolution), FM radio, 3.2MP rear cam, 3G upto 7.2Mbps, etc.

    Both devices features Android 2.2 Froyo inside. User gets Rs. 259 introductory 3G pack offer which has an actual worth of Rs. 3,500. With this pack, user gets free Idea TV subscription for 3 months, 1GB monthly data usage for 3 months, and Idea’s “3G Double Dhamaka” benefits on 3G plans for 6 months. New and existing Idea subscribers (prepaid and postpaid) can avail these phones as well as the introductory offer.

    ZTE Blade is branded as Idea 3G Smartphone Blade and costs Rs. 7,992 , whereas Huawei Ideos X1 is branded as Idea 3G Smartphone id-280 costing Rs. 5,850.

From today, mobile users in India can access some of the world’s best handset features and Idea’s 3G applications on Android based smartphones, for as low Rs. 2,609!

    The new Idea smartphones have been affordably priced to ensure rapid uptake by both – 2G users wishing to upgrade to 3G, and existing 3G users – especially in the semi-urban parts of the country which are traditional strongholds of Idea.
