• Acer announces C110 and K330 portable projectors in India

Acer India announced two DLP pico chipset based portable projectors, a pocket sized C110 and the first LED pico projector K330. C110 is a cheap one yet bundles itself with some unique features. This tiny projector weighs just about 175 g and can easily be carried along in pocket. It has just one input, and that’s a USB 2.0 port through which you can connect it to a notebook or tablet (Windows/Android tabs). It doesn’t have any kind of power adapter to plug in, as it consumes power from the connected device via USB cable – power consumption is 7.5 watts at maximum settings. Nice? Well there’s more to tell – 24bit color reproduction, 50 lumens brightness, native WVGA resolution, 16:9 native aspect ratio, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 20k hours LED lamp life. The only downside we can find is that C110 doesn’t support Mac and Linux. When asked about this, we were told that C110 is based on market environment and consumer demands – Windows leads that for sure and so it’s supported by C110 through a proprietary Windows app. But is it hard to develop same app for Mac or Linux?

K330 wears the crown for being the first LED pico projector. It’s small in size yet features tons of goodness. It runs at WXGA resolution with 4000:1 contrast ratio and the LED lamp produces 500 lumens brightness. It’s got a number of input options – HDMI, VGA, composite, AV, miniUSB port, SD card slot and a USB port. Interestingly, you can plug in a USB flash drive or an SD card and project supported files like MS Office docs and multimedia files.

Both projectors will be available on retail shelves by 7 days from now, C110 will cost Rs. 15,000 and K330 will cost Rs. 54,000. Hit the press release below the C110 video for more info.

Mumbai, September 20, 2011: Acer India, the second largest PC vendor in India has expanded its projector portfolio with the launch of its travel series, ultra-light mobile projectors, the Acer C110 and Acer K330. Both the projectors are specifically created and built for multi-purpose usage such as business presentations and multimedia digital entertainment.

Over the last few quarters, Acer has focused on highlighting its technological advances made in the notebook and smartphone segment but this time around, Acer has turned the spotlight to the projector segment. The company currently enjoys a significant presence in the projector space and is one among the top five players in the education, BFSI, government and corporate space. Acer will continue to focus on strengthening its position in the projector space.

The C110 pico-projector is designed to fit in perfectly with one’s mobile lifestyle, being an ideal notebook companion. The projector weighs as less as 175 grams and measures just 110 x 85 x 25 mm. It only needs a single USB cable to connect to the user’s laptop and power the projector while allowing users to show presentations.

The 1000:1 contrast, the amazing WVGA (854×480) resolution and native 16:9 format ensure crystal clear, vibrant projections with quite impressive image quality. Through Acer’s SmartFormat technology users can also experience instant sync with wide-format displays without resolution adjustments from the notebook. Other aspects include a swift boot time within 15 seconds of instant on, a powerful but eco-efficient LED lamp, and the inclusion of ColorSafe and DLP picture technology, 20,000 hours of LED lamp life minimizes light-source replacement cost. Keeping portability and mobility as key feature, Acer offers an optional 25” foldable wrinkle free screen that doubles the reflectivity compared to any standard projector screen.

While launching both the projectors, Mr. S Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India said “People today are always on the move. The projector is just smaller than a magazine, while providing the latest projection technologies and high-impact performance. The unique feature of the projector is its multimedia features allowing one to project standard office (Power point, Excel, Word, & PDF) and multimedia file (audio, video and photo)  from an USB drive or a SD card connected to the projector. This enables the users to leave their laptop back home.

Running at WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution and promising a 4,000:1 contrast ratio, the K330 not only offers the usual VGA, HDMI, composite video inputs, and AV input , but also SD card slot and an USB port to bypass the Blu-ray deck or computer altogether.

Designed with a slim, 1.24 kg form factor, the K330 is ideal for the mobile workforce and SOHO professionals who want powerful projection performance in an attractive, easy-to-carry package. The Eco friendly function offers a complete environment-friendly power management solution that reduces power consumption by up to 70% in ExtremeEco mode. The eco friendly functionality further enhances the lamp life of the projector with features like Auto Shutdown switching the projector to standby mode when there is no signal input.

The Acer C110 is priced at Rupees 15,000/- and Acer K330 is priced at Rupees 54,000/- respectively.
