• [UPDATE]Introducing the new iPhone

    “This changes everything. Again.”
If you ask us, its sort of true, thinnest smartphone ever made, highest resolution on a phone, recording videos at 30 frames on 720p, many things have been done first time with this iPhone, first of all its not iPhone 4G or iPhone HD like rumors were going around about it, it is – iPhone 4 – there have been tremendous work on this, so lets see whats new!

    Retina Display

Thats what its being called!, Retina Display – just a fancy name. It’s basically the highest resolution display, you have ever seen on a phone – 960×640 – if you compare the resolution with other top phones in market (like the Google Nexus One, EVO 4G, and HTC HD2), they have a 800×480 resolution display. Interestingly, Apple was able to achieve this resolution without the need of developers re-writing there applications again. As you can see in the image below, the difference is notable. Oh! and, iPhone 4 uses IPS Panel, instead of OLED, Apple thinks its superior, maybe.

    FaceTime

Video chat isn’t new – although Apple promo’s again and again keep claiming that they “bring video calling to the world”. You can have video calling over Qik on HTC EVO4G, even on 3G or 4G networks – on iPhone it only works over WiFi – for now, Steve Jobs said that they are working with AT&T and non-US network providers to bring the service over 3G. The best thing about video calling on iPhone is that it is not a separate application – it is built in right into the current calling functions. Also, you can swap between rear or front camera, while in-call. The thing bad about it is – its only possible over Wi-Fi and its only iPhone 4 to iPhone 4.

    Design

The leak from Gizmodo was real, Steve even mentioned it in the keynote. iPhone has a layer of custom made glass which is 30 times stronger than normal plastic – and ofcource scratch and smudge resistant, on front AND on the back of the iPhone. The edges are made of stainless steel, which Apple has designed to provide better reception to the antenna’s inside. Also, Apple claims that iPhone is the thinnest smartphone available in the market, yet. We agree! The Samsung Galaxy S comes close at around 9.7mm.

The iPhone is the thinnest smarphone made, yet. Just 9.3mm thick.

    Rear Camera

The rear camera on iPhone is a brand new 5 Megapixel camera with single LED flash, it can record videos at 30 frames per second at 720p – once again, first time ever on a smartphone device (HTC EVO 4G records at 24 frames at 720p).  Also, the camera has a backside illuminated sensor which helps with adjusting white balance and brightness to get photos to come out just right. The iPhone 3GS had a 3 megapixel camera, with no flash – iPhone 4 is clearly better.

Some more Info about the hardware

Inside the iPhone, the battery has been increased in size and capacity both. The new battery apparently provides 40% more battery life  than the previous iPhone 3GS. We hope its true.

Also inside, Apple has included the same A4 chip that can be found in the iPad – it’s pretty darn fast. We’re thinking that it’s underclocked a bit as to not kill the battery, but you can expect that performance on the iPhone 4 will be fantastic.

Apple has added a three-axis gyroscope to compliment the accelerometer – another first time in a smartphone. This should allow for a  new generation of games and apps that will know where you are in three dimensional space.

And to save space, Apple is going with micro-SIM – just like the iPad.

    Software

iPhone runs the fourth version of iPhone OS – wait, its renamed! Now it’s called.. iOs4. Apparently Apple had to do a deal with Cisco for the rename, cause Cisco had something called IOS already, so they had to take permission from Cisco to use the name. On June 21, iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch (2nd and 3rd generation) owners will be able to download iOS 4, for free – yes.

    Prices and Release Dates

iPhone 4G will be priced 199$ for 16 GB and 299$ for 32 GB, no 64 GB version.
