  • Google China again – showdown begins!

China, for sure, do not want Google on its land. Chinese government again had seek for a chance to remove Google websites from its mainland.

On Tuesday Google announced on its blog, that Chinese government warned it for not having its Internet Content Provider license renewed, which was about to be renewed on 30th June, today. Chinese government do not like any approaches of Google, like the Google.cn which was being redirected to Google Hong Kong unfiltered search engine. Chinese governement talked to Google that they “find the redirect unacceptable,” and warned about the ICP license.

David Drummond, SVP, Corporate Development and Chief Legal Officer stated in the Google blog yesterday, “Without an ICP license, we can’t operate a commercial website like Google.cn—so Google would effectively go dark in China.”

Now Google stopped redirecting the Google.cn website. Instead it added a link on the Google.cn website that gives you an option to go to the Google Hong Kong website ( http://google.com.hk .) However David stated they in these few days, Google will try to make an entirely different website for Chinese users.
